Children and Adolescents

SureCare provides outreach mental health support for children in their school, homes and out of home residential care facilities. SureCare specialises in child and adolescent mental health intervention and family intervention dealing with a range of disorders such as behavioural problems, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, PTSD, ASD, and ADHD. We also provide support for parents, foster and kinship carers and families.

Adults

While we may joke about being tired of “adulting”, the reality is that being an adult is serious business! We all have times when we may feel overwhelmed by our work, relationships, family or finances. Is it any wonder that so many of us are dealing with stress, insomnia, anxiety or depression? Others may have suffered abuse or trauma in childhood, which is still negatively impacting their life and relationships well into adulthood. With mobile and telehealth counselling options, SureCare aims to improve your mental health and wellbeing by making it easier for you to get support that fits your busy lifestyle.

Insurance

If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim for counselling and psychotherapy provided by SureCare, as we are an accredited mental health care provider.

While the type of benefit available will vary depending on your health fund and level of cover, you may be able to access rebates through your health insurance for face-to-face and telehealth counselling for issues such as: anxiety, depression, and stress; grief and loss; insomnia; relationship problems; abuse, trauma and PTSD.

Work Cover

Suffering from a work-related mental health injury, such as anxiety, depression or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? You may be entitled to make a claim under WorkCover.

You will need to establish that your job was the cause of your psychological suffering, with proof from an accredited mental health provider such as SureCare Counselling. We can support your claim with an independent evaluation to determine if you have a work-related psychological condition, as well as provide an opinion regarding work capacity, and a tailored treatment plan. Contact us today to see how we can help you.

Child Protection

In addition to having to deal with what is often a sudden move to a strange environment and new caregivers, children and young people in out-of-home care are often already struggling psychologically as a result of violence, abuse and/or neglect.

At SureCare, we are experienced in providing counselling for youngsters in child protection. Using evidence-based therapeutic approaches, our aim is to minimise the negative impact of their trauma, equip them with coping skills, and help them develop their resilience to better handle the challenges of today, as well as those that may lie ahead.

Veterans

For those who are serving or have previously served in the armed forces, one of the biggest issues is preserving mental health. The transition from a highly regimented workplace to civilian life can be a huge culture shock; however if their time in the military has included active duty in a war zone or in the wake of a natural disaster, the risk of mental health issues is even greater. SureCare provides outreaching counselling services for veterans, making it easier for them to get support with challenges such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety.

Telehealth Counselling

At SureCare, we provide telehealth counselling through phone or video call. Telehealth counselling is an increasingly popular option in the wake of the pandemic, and studies have shown that it can be just as effective as face-to-face sessions.

Telehealth counselling is more cost-effective and means that quality mental health care is available no matter where you might be based across Australia. In addition to the convenience of talking to your counsellor while in the comfort of your own home, there are also the added benefits of reduced travel and waiting times.  If you would like more information on telehealth counselling, contact us today.

Schools

We provide outreach counselling services to schools to support children, teachers and parents. Rather than the rosy picture that is often painted of childhood, school can be a very challenging time for some. In the classroom, a child may struggle because of learning difficulties, ASD or ADHD; they may also experience issues socially, such as bullying and peer pressure.

For others, school may be a refuge from troubles at home such as domestic violence, substance abuse or a parent with mental health issues. Counselling by an accredited mental health professional from SureCare, will give children a safe space to talk about their experiences, express their feelings, and learn ways to cope.

Aged Care

SureCare provides outreach counselling services for older adults residing in aged care and independent support accommodation. As with any age, older adults may experience mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. However there are also certain stressors that become more common in later life, which can negatively impact their wellbeing. These may include reduced mobility or functional limitations, chronic pain, cognitive decline, and grief and loss. Counselling is an effective treatment for many mental health issues. This is particularly important in aged care, when pharmacological options are often limited due to older adults already being on multiple medications for physical health problems.

Transcultural Mental Health

Australia is a country with a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) population, which can present barriers for those seeking help with mental health issues. A solid understanding of cultural context is critical to the way that mental illness is diagnosed, explained, and treated.

At SureCare Counselling, we have significant training and experience in assisting clients from varied backgrounds. We work hard to understand the factors impacting the individual, so we can develop a treatment plan that incorporates cultural considerations. Being an outreach counselling service, we make it easier for CALD people to access quality mental health services.
